This week in Nursery we have been celebrating world book week! The children have been listening to the story ‘Elmer’ by David McKee. We have talked about the word ‘unique’, and the children have enjoyed learning that we are all different and that being unique is a good thing.  We have been busy drawing pictures of ourselves, identifying our own physical features such as hair and eye colour.

We have also been exploring the different animals in ‘Elmer’ including giraffes, zebras, lions, and crocodiles. The children have enjoyed learning about their habitats, diet, and physical features. We have especially enjoyed making our loudest lion roars and elephant trumpets!

In our continuous provision, children have been making snakes using repeating patterns. Continuing our class topic of ‘How many colours in a rainbow?’, we have been making Elmer faces using rainbow tissue paper and paper plates.  On our easel, the children have been delighted to print patterns on the animals in Elmer identifying their stripes and spots.
