As part of safety week a nurse visited Royd. Following on from the nurses visit we discussed with the children the importance of being able to dial 999 in the event of an emergency. Please spend time with your child showing them how to do this on your house phone (landline). Some households don’t have landlines now as parents / carers only use mobile phones. Please show your child how to call 999 off your mobile phone. Your child doesn’t actually need your pin number to gain access to your phone to do this. If you are unsure of how to dial 999 without unlocking your phone then please see Mr Sly and he can model this to you. It is really important that your child knows their home address, telephone number and their parents / carers name. All of these things help speed up the response time. Please make sure that you spend time with your child rehearsing these things until they know the information. Then keep quizzing them in the future to ensure they have remembered it. It was really worrying that when we covered this that a large number of children didn’t know their home address, telephone number or their parents / carers name. This could save a life!
