On Friday 26th May, children in Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a Science day! Children were encouraged to be inquisitive and ask lots of questions to solve investigations and problems.
As part of the Science day, we researched endangered animals and created a fact file to present to the rest of the class. The children were shocked that some of the animals that they love and see at the zoo could all be extinct when they are adults. After this the children were posed with the question “Does height affect how far we can jump?” We investigated this by working in pairs and measuring the distance we could jump in centimetres. We discovered that in fact the smallest children could sometimes jump the furthest.
Finally we ended the day with an Explorify session. This posed many different questions for a discussion about images and videos. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and they were amazing scientists!
