Last half term our topic in the 2-year provision was “Where does the snow go” We talked about snow and how cold it is and how we need to wear our hats, gloves and scarves when we play out in it. A range of activities were available around the room. Frozen balls of ice to watch what happens when the ice melts. We had cornflour in the sand tray for Children to explore the different texture, talk about how it feels, e.g. smooth, rough, cold or warm. Fork painting – children dipped a fork in paint to create winter animal pictures. children used sugar cubes to build an igloo which was very tricky trying to balance them but then lots of fun when it fell over.
